Fantastic beasts and where to find us

Hey everyone! This is our first blog post, we will try to keep it as updated as possible about our adventures in Peru and Bolivia, unless we die first.

Daniel and I are planning on staying in Peru and Bolivia for four months, until May 4th. We have some internships lined up, but overall we just wanted to travel and get some real-world experience.

Our original plan was to fly from Portland to LA to Mexico City to Peru, but as we were going

through all of the pre-flight safety orientations it started snowing and billowing down faster then they could blow it off. After an hour and a half they canceled the flight, and every other flight from Portland that night. It took a while to get through the sea of canceled flight passengers, as everyone was trying to find a new one. We were very fortunate to get a new flight from Portland to Houston to Peru, which was even upgraded to first class. The extra legroom and comfort was appreciated after we spent the night cuddled up in the terminal. A highlight of the flight was getting to eat Quiche, but as it turns out Quiche is just an omelet pie.

After we got to Peru we slept for a few hours in the airport before our flight to La Paz, Bolivia. Yesterday we took a 9 hour bus ride to Cochabamba, Bolivia where we will be for the next 2 weeks, here at a Spanish language school. We figured that being able to speak and understand other people would be beneficial. We are living here in a homestay with a lovely Bolivian family. Right now we have just been visiting the market, eating food and waiting for classes to start on Monday.

Here are some of the pictures we took from the airplanes. The Mountains are in Peru and the Sunset was over the Pacific Ocean just west of Mexico. We look forward to learning and experiencing more of Bolivian culture in Cochabamba these next 2 weeks, and go Seahawks tonight!
